Greetings once again from Buffalo. Left this morning, walked 16 miles, stopped, 10 minutes later Isabela, support unit and youngest daughter, picked me up and drove us back to town. Twenty minutes that took me 4:55 earlier! But I had a great walk this morning - it was relatively cool, under 100! I am finding myself getting into a very comfortable rhythm. Still dealing with vesicles and bullas on my feet, but armed with plenty of curative materials, and a new footwear decision. sent the evil ones back to Austin in favor of an old pair of Salomons, delivered today! Reason I didn’t bring originally is because they’re a bit heavier, but I am confident they’ll be perfect, and I can use all the way, contrary to running shoes.
Nice day in Buffalo - very nice people around here. Had a great afternoon with Isabela, a little bit of “normal” after a couple of weeks of crazy. Great lunch at The Pharm, little nap, then a haircut.. yes, a haircut.
Recall the sheriff that gave me a ride last week. Along the way we were talking about predispositions, and in essence, profiling people based on the first two or three seconds after you encounter. We do it all the time, whether we are aware or not. So I asked him if he thought I should get a haircut… it wasn’t a beauty question, it was about safety. After a pause, he said “it might not be a bad idea.”. Thank you officer, advice taken, Lauren did a great job, and I look decent, hard to be mistaken for a hippie anymore, which officer told me would probably not be good. But all OK now.
And with this haircut went my strength! I’m exhausted - spent my writing time with Isabela… trust you understand. Peace.
